This story, reminiscent of a Christmas tale about the all-conquering power of good, takes place in the run-down, dilapidated house of Mrs. Kronki. Three swindlers, who happened to be here, could not even imagine how this strange “living” house and its unusual inhabitant would affect their not very decent life. Having conceived a scam quite in the spirit of our time – to insure a strange, eccentric woman and set up an accident, three scammers are trying to get into the house and ingratiate themselves with the mistress.
However, the plan doesn’t work. And the point is not that all attempts to implement the plan fail. Warmed by warmth and participation, they, not wanting it themselves, suddenly begin to change in the most wonderful way.
Love, kindness, human dignity and nobility, these seemingly very ephemeral values turn out to be much more weighty than quite visible and material values.
